'Police brutality is everywhere, You don't have to end it, you just have to fix it so that it will be on the minimum level' - Former SARS officer, Yomi insists
A former officer of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), ASP Abayomi Ekundayo aka Yomi Sars is of the opinion that police brutality occurs around the world and claims that it is possible to however reduce it to the minimum level. This he states is a better solution to the crisis - rather than to terminate the squad.
In an interview with Pulse, Yomi who nows works under the Intelligence Response Team - that led to the arrest of Kidnap Kingpin Evans - said quite a number of things and excerpts include;
"90% of those videos online, those people are not SARS personnel. See finish is what caused all of this. SARS should leave the stop and search for the anti-robbery and area commmanders. Police work is Federal Government work. Why would somebody give you target? That is exageration (in response to allegations that SARS officers are given monetary targets to meet)."
When asked whether SARS Brutality is a result of frustration, he said;
"That's the thing I have been saying. If I tell you my salary, you'll say wow. No life insurance. Nigerian Police are ther most understanding in the world. If Police are doing the right thing they should do, do you know how many people will be in Jail?
"Most of the boys ranting on social media are in Dubia and Malaysia. Can they face Police there? Police brutality is everywhere, You don't have to end it, you just have to fix it so that it will be on the minimun level.
"All the people saying END SARS, let them volunteer two of their family members and give them the guns to face whatever. A SARS Personnel coming back home is not guaranteed. We go on operation sometimes for 7 days. 90% of people shouting ENDSars are not legit."
